West Glamogan Cross Country League

Gnoll Park Neath Sunday 17th March 2019

Men AND LADIES – Start loop + 2 large laps = approx. 5 miles

Due to expected high numbers NO GUEST RUNNERS – sorry.

Car parking – £2.50 for 4 hours – limited space - please share a car if possible.

No coaches please. The road around the car park is narrow and we have had problems with coaches in the past.

Registration will be in the rear of the visitor centre (access from the lake side of the centre)  0945 to 1045 – please bring the correct change. £3 WAAA’s - £5 none WAAA’s.

There will be an entry form online to print off pre-race to make registration easier.

Due to high numbers ladies will start approx. 5 mins after the men’s field.

NOTE – There are some changes to the course from last year. Please see the course map.

  1. At the end of the start loop and at the end of each lap the course will do a dog leg around a tree before going in to the field to the rear of the visitor centre.
  2. A very large section of wall in the walled garden has collapsed so the course will not enter the ruins. It will skirt the grass field and head over to the end of the lake.
  3. At the top of the cascades the course will now head straight across to the water crossing.

Studs or flats (normal running shoes) not suitable for spikes.

This is one of the more difficult courses in the league, please ensure that it is within your ability. If you are in any doubt, speak to one of your team mates who has completed the course before.

There are numerous climbs and descents and the ground is quite uneven in places with lots of tree roots and stones. Please take care, we want you to enjoy the race and go home safely!

There is a water crossing, it is only shallow but please take care when you cross.

There is a road crossing at the end of each lap, please take care and follow any guidance given by the marshals.

If you arrive early, please check out the changes to this year’s course. The course changes are close to the visitors centre.

We do not have exclusive rights in the park. Be aware that there will be other park users, children, dogs etc in and around the park during the race.

First aid will be available at the finish should you need it. If you see someone in difficulty, please stop to give assistance and/or make one of the marshals aware and we will aim to get assistance to them.

Refreshments, hot and cold, will be available to purchase in the café in the visitor centre.

Thank you and we hope you enjoy the race!
